I know what it feels like to be you…

I was 24 when I started my first company, an e-commerce menswear company called Black Lapel.

Founding and growing a business was exciting. And I was willing to do whatever it took to succeed. I was full of energy and ambition.

But it was also extremely stressful. Deep down, I was consumed by fear.

Fear of failing. Fear of letting myself down. Fear of letting others down.

The stress was endless. Every milestone or goal we reached created pressure to reach the next one. Every new team member we hired increased the feeling of responsibility over someone else’s livelihood.

It felt lonely to carry this weight. And for a long time, I suffered quietly, not knowing what to do.

Until I did something that changed my life: I got help. I hired my first executive coach.

In working with her, I realized that every challenge I faced was actually an incredible opportunity to become more self-aware, to improve my leadership skills, to refocus my attention on what was most important, and to amplify the talents of others.

As a result, I became a more effective leader AND a much more fulfilled person.

After successfully selling my company, I realized that my purpose is to help other Founders in the same way: to help them navigate challenges with greater effectiveness and resilience so that they can also achieve their version of success.

If you’re ready to evolve into a high-performing leader and take your leadership to the next level, reach out to me. I’d love to chat.

What I Bring to Coaching:

  • Professional: Over 15 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience. First, as an M&A investment banker for asset management companies at Jefferies & Co. Then, as the CEO and Co-Founder of Black Lapel, a global e-commerce company.

  • Coaching: I am a ICF certified coach, New Ventures West certified Integral Coach, and am also trained under the Aletheia Integral Unfoldment Advanced Coaching Program. My focus is twofold: 1) Practical: developing skills and frameworks that help us be more effective and 2) Purposeful: learning how we can make new, positive meaning of our challenges in a way that creates a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment in all areas of life.

  • Consulting / Advising: I’ve also consulted for or advised other executives and founders on areas related to implementing goal-setting systems, lean startup methodology, operational process improvements, performance reviews, and more. I’ve also advised on the development of a Racial Equality and Engagement program for universities and volunteered as a career mentor for low-income youth in a non-profits called YearUp and iMentor.

What else?

When I’m not coaching, I’m spending time with my beautiful wife, Elizabeth, and two young kids Lila and Lucas. We’re all about adventure and creating memorable experiences.

After living in NYC, Shanghai, and NYC again, with stints in Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, and various European cities mixed in, we decided to make our current home Valencia, Spain.

I love CrossFit, traveling, reading, surfing, cooking, spending time with friends, riding motorcycles, and all things personal development.

But above all, I love meeting people and hearing their stories. I believe that deep relationships make life meaningful.

So even if you’re unsure about coaching, please reach out…I’d still love to get to know you!
